Well the heavens opened just as most of us were packing our cars to leave for the ground on Sunday. The closer you got to Plumpton, the better the weather got, evidently the rain hadn't reached Plumpton College, but we didn't have to wait long. It poured down for about 40 mins or so. At that point we decided not to attempt to use the pitch, so when the rain finally stopped, we did some fielding practise where a wicket-keeper would lob the ball to a batsman who would slog it into the field for people to catch or field, and through back over the stumps.
We basically made the best of a poor day! We then had tea and went home about 4.30pm.
The club would like to say a big "Hello, and thanks for turning up" to 4 new players, namely Simeon, Tony, James and Sam (now known as "Hollywood" for his diving antics during the fielding practise!) - it was great to see you there, and we hope to see you a lot more over the coming season.
Another plus was the pitch and the outfield, it is clear that Plumpton College have worked hard to prepare the ground, and we are very grateful to them for their efforts, long may it continue!
All in all, not a bad day, considering! We now turn our attention to the Annual Cris Neale memorial match against Brunswick Village CC this coming Sunday at Lower Beeding.
